AT HOME - waiting...

By Sara Todorovic

The Corona era is ravaging and our normal everyday life has been completely turned upside down. You are no longer allowed to see your friends, you have to keep your distance from everything and everyone and take care of those around you in a way that you have not been used to before.

It can be difficult for us young people to relate to, especially when we have never tried anything like this before. We are used to seeing it as a good thing if we are outside with our friends and active in the sun or if we get time off from school. Now it's a bad thing if you're outside, you're not allowed to hug your friends - and it's suddenly not very fun to have to stay home from school.

Maybe we have family who are in a risk group - maybe you are. Even if you are not particularly vulnerable to corona, the anxiety can still come to an end: When can I see my friends again? When can I come to the party? When can I come back to school? When does it end? Will it ever end?

When you feel a little scared, it's important to remember that viruses and flu wreak havoc every year. When we all catch a cold in the winter months, it's exactly the same thing that happens. Corona is not a big, scary and super deadly virus. It's just new, so none of us are immune and there are no vaccines. We don't have enough knowledge about Corona to be able to say "never mind", as we usually do in the winter. However, we know that Corona is almost twice as contagious as another normal virus. It is therefore important that we look after each other.

Although we and all our friends are young, healthy and fit, not everyone is. It is the others that we must take care of. It requires us to think about more than ourselves - and that is a good thing to learn.

When it gets a bit heavy, boring and sad, try to think about the good things that you can find in this time. If you go to school, you may be able to decide your own time and work on homework in advance. You may be able to sleep a little longer on weekdays. You may have more time on your hands to do creative things, practice your sport or hobby, read and everything else that you forget everyday because you are busy with friends, school or work.

It's not fun, you miss your friends and your everyday life, but it's important that we all make an effort and be in good spirits. The more of us who take care, the shorter the time will be before our normal everyday life comes back to us. That is a summer to look forward to.

And we are looking forward to being with all our friends again ❤️❤️❤️
