Interview with Josephine Højbjerg aka Tinka
My dream is reality
At the end of October, sistie met Josephine Chavarria Højbjerg for an exclusive interview about being young, a high school student, an actor - and living on Bornholm. In August, Josephine started high school, but the urge to make a career as an actress also pulls her in the direction of the big city.
It all started with Little Per
It all started with the film Lille Per, which Josephine saw in the cinema with her mother. During the film, Josephine exclaimed – I want to be an actor too! And at the age of 8, Josephine went to her first casting in Copenhagen.
After 4 castings and hard work rehearsing lines, Josephine got the role of Pil in the TV series Pendlerkids. It was the start of a burgeoning acting career. Since then, Josephine has appeared in a sea of TV series and feature films!
Casting and glue brain
But Josephine, how do you get to a casting?
Today, you find most castings on Facebook, the internet or via a casting agent. Some castings are open and ie. thousands of girls come and the competition is fierce.
So how does a casting take place?
As a rule, you are sent a text in which a role is intended for you.
And then it's about practicing and remembering lines. For the casting recording itself, you typically act opposite the caster, who says the opposite role's lines.
And what about remembering the lines?
I've always been good at remembering my lines - maybe it's because I'm passionate about the subject and I have a bit of a sticky brain.
Because yes! this is definitely her dream come true!
Here you come USA
What will happen after Tinka and the King's Game?
I still have to go to high school and do acting, but I don't want to rule out that I might end up dropping out of high school if I get a big role in a movie or TV series, although I know it's wisest to continue in high school, but acting is my life, I'm so passionate about it.
Leonardo
My biggest dream would be to come to the USA and meet my great idol Leonardo Di Caprio, he is very cool and was super hot in Titanic, and he is fantastically talented. Imagine if one day I could play with him - that would be crazy! It probably won't happen, but you're allowed to dream.
Do you experience jealousy from your surroundings?
I used to get picked on in my class, maybe because of my acting, I don't know - but fortunately that doesn't happen today. I think it's more for children than teenagers. And then you just have to speak up to those who mope!
Have you ever felt insecure?
Yes, I have - when you are completely new to the acting profession, you can feel insecure and 'not good enough' when you go to a casting. You want the role, and know that there are many others who also want it. You have to be prepared to be chosen because you may not have the right appearance for the role. And here it is important to understand that it is about the role and not yourself. I love my profession and am passionate about it 100%, so I don't let a "no" put me off
You have to fight for what you dream of, and it can be hard! Unfortunately, you don't come to anything sleeping.
So my best advice to others is;
Fight on! Go after your dreams! - never give up!
